You wake up outside the New York Public Library. A friendly MTA employee hands you your wallet as you rub sleep from your eye. Inside the wallet is your ID, your twitter log-in, and a few mementos from a raucous party the night before. Then it hits you: you were in Jackson Heights last night, the groom has gone missing, and his wedding is in 3 hours.

You and your team of four jump on the 7 train to Jackson Heights.  In between deciphering puzzles tweeted by the missing husband-to-be, you all feast on an array of Nepali and Pakistani morsels. A quick bite of banaras special paan here, a tawa brain masala there, and plenty of fried momos for everyone.

After a couple hours of solving clues and learning about this cultural corner of Queens, teams rest and celebrate their cleverness and hard work over beers and momos with the groom. Wedding saved!

My favorite secret adventurous eating society, the Gastronauts, teamed up with the remarkable game designers at Interactive Escapes to create a no holds barred food focused Scavenger Hunt.

I was extremely impressed on how Interactive Escapes was able to create challenging, yet attainable goals that were not completely ruined by the internets.

Yes, there was a plot, and it was both well thought out and executed. This wasn’t one of those bullshit scavenger hunts where you have to find 10 items that were haphazardly placed throughout the city for no other reason but because the game master said so.
